These illustrations are for Buddhadharma’s upcoming spring edition. The spots are for the section “First Thoughts” and the last illo is for a feature article called “The Seeds of Hate”. It was actually a very interesting and honest piece. It was written by someone who went on a retreat and describes how there was so much tension there that it felt like a tornado was about to touch down upon the camp. The author realizes during this time that hate and anger grows rapidly, in a domino effect from one person to the next. In order to stop it, one needs to step back, take a breath and end the cycle before it continues down the line, despite the fact that this is usually a very difficult thing to do.
As always, thanks Seth!
